I realize the rules say you can immediate purchase upto a Lt'cy when you join a ship.
My question, how would you word that?

Week 1: Apply to join Ship XXX
If accepted, purchase the rank of xxx

or

Week 1: Apply to join Ship XXX
Week 2: If Application to join Ship XXX succeded then
purchase rank xxx else
go to The Pit

Something like either of the two?

 Its more like the first one.. but its a pre-monthly action.... that's how I do it anyway.

Followup...

In combining orders to Join a fleet, I am aware of sequence and needs, but in the Announcements what does one do?
a. Put both in 1 Announcement?
b. Put them in 2 Announcements?
c. Only put the 1st one in.

I would assume either a or b above and out of the two of
them say a. but not sure or clear.

 You only need to announce the ship you want to join. Joining a ship is an influenceable action. Buying a rank is not, so you do not need to announce which rank you would like to buy.
If you have an alternative ship (or three) in case you are refused your first choice, you would list them in the announcement:
Apply to join the Royal Oak and the Enterprise.
In your orders, state the order that you wish to apply and the rank. So it would look something like this:
Pre monthly: Apply to join the Royal Oak, Buy the rank of Midshipman.
If unsuccessful, apply to join the Enterprise, buy the rank of Lieutenant.
